2026-392Effective Date Certain
This act amends Sections 40-23-35 and 40-23-85, Code of Alabama 1975, to: (1) increase the amount paid to the Department of Human Resources for the food stamp program from 5 percent to 7.5 percent of the value of food stamp benefits issued statewide in excess of the amount paid by recipients during the prior fiscal quarter; and (2) remove the requirement that an amount sufficient to fund the Children's Health Insurance Program be distributed annually as a first charge against the use tax allocated to the State General Fund.
